The city of Utica which is nearby fields a semi pro hockey team from time to time that plays at the Utica Auditorium which can seat thousands of screaming ice hockey fans.
Then there is the Utica College Pioneers Ice Hockey team that feeds the fans desire for watching hockey games when there is not a pro team playing in town.
Clinton is the hometown of retired Toronto Maple Leaf's NHL hockey player Ted Fauss and the small town of Whitesboro, which is almost right next to Clinton, is the hometown of the famous NHL Goalie Robert Esche who played for the Philadelphia Flyers.
On any given drive through Clinton, on a cold winter day, you can often see pickup ice or street hockey game going on in parks and driveways throughout the city.
